The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry

The Scottish Rite is a Masonic organization that provides its members an opportunity to expand upon their knowledge of Freemasonry, to widen their circle of friends, and to serve humanity in unique ways.

The Scottish Rite degrees are sometimes considered a "graduate course" in Masonic teachings because they amplify the philosophic teaching of the first three degrees and answer some of the questions raised in these blue lodge degrees.

Although there is no higher degree than that of a Master Mason, the 29 degrees of the Scottish Rite (the 4th through 32nd Degree) and an honorary 33rd, which is awarded by the Supreme Council for exceptional service, continues Masonic education, enriches the lessons of the Symbolic Lodge, and encourages exploration of Masonic philosophy, history, ethics and the ultimate truths that guide the way a Mason lives.
